Our History
Om Sree Dhanwantara Moorthaye Namaha!!!
Thripunithura is the sacred land where the history of a great civilization rests — a land that shines gloriously with its many ancient temples.
In the serene and graceful land of Mekara, hardly three minutes away from Thripunithura and blessed by nature, stands the Udupi Dhanwanthari Temple, fondly known as Dakshina Udupi (Southern Udupi).
As one enters this vast spiritual abode, spread across several acres, a divine sense of peace and spirituality immediately fills the heart. Here stands a temple of Lord Dhanwanthari — unique in many ways and unlike any other in Kerala.
The idol of Lord Dhanwanthari, the divine healer and bestower of grace to all, is installed here as a living embodiment of divinity. The consecration (Prana Pratishtha) was performed by H.H SHRI VISHWESHA THEERTHA SWAMIJI of PEJAWAR MUTT (UDUPI).
— the revered pontiff of the Madhwa Brahmin tradition and a great ascetic — who resided here for days and carried out the rituals in strict adherence to Vedic traditions.
The radiant idol, which immediately inspires devotion and inner joy at first sight, depicts the four-armed form of Lord Dhanwanthari in a most magnificent manner.
This holy land, surrounded by medicinal herbs and imbued with a spiritual atmosphere akin to a hermitage or Tapovan, offers spacious halls ideal for weddings and auspicious ceremonies — all available to the public at reasonable rates.
A large air-conditioned hall, capable of accommodating over a thousand people at a time, provides comfort and a blissful ambiance for all who visit. Known as Dakshina Udupi, this temple attracts numerous devotees daily from both within and outside the state.
In the Kala Mandapam and other halls, devotees — individually and in groups — regularly recite the Bhagavad Gita, Narayaneeyam, and other sacred texts. The continuous chanting of mantras within the temple fills the entire area with an ever-present divine vibration and sweet spiritual resonance.
When one steps onto this sacred soil, sanctified by the holy feet of H.H SHRI VISHWESHA THEERTHA SWAMIJI — the saint who taught the world to love all religions and to view all living beings with equality — the heart is instantly filled with an indescribable joy and peace.
